Toy Ads and Learning Gender
I recently watched afternoon cartoons on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network and I was shocked to find a flood of highly gendered toy commercials. These ads not only market toys to children but it also promotes and encourages gender specific values that are very limiting to boys and girls in different ways. The values and skills promoted in these commercials can play a critical role in the socalization of youth and their development of emotional expression, conflict resolution, the confidence to pursue various careers and the ability to maintain healthy relationships as adults.

5º Concurso Educativo de Fotografía Contra la Violencia de Género
CONVOCATORIA
Con motivo del Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer, el día 25 de noviembre, la delegación territorial de Educación, Cultura y Deporte de Málaga y el Instituto Andaluz de la Mujer convocan el V Concurso de Fotografía Por Una Convivencia Sin Violencia Stop Violencia de Género para la realización del 5º Calendario Educativo Digital para la prevención de la violencia de género.
Esta iniciativa tiene como objetivo
sensibilizar
a todos los sectores de Ia comunidad educativa sabre Ia importancia de trabajar por una sociedad mas igualitaria, en Ia que no tenga cabida Ia violencia de género, fomentar su corresponsabilidad
entre
mujeres y hombres y estimular Ia creatividad de las
personas participantes, difundiendo los trabajos
a traves de un
calendario y una galeria virtual.
La participacion en este
concurso implica Ia plena aceptacion
de las presentes bases y Ia resolución por Ia organización
de cualquier eventualidad no
contemplada en las mismas.
BASES
1. Participantes:
Podra participar en el concurso cualquier
miembro de Ia comunidad educativa
(alumnado,profesorado, familias,PAS) de todas las etapas educativas de Ia provincia
de Malaga.
2. Tema:
El tema y título del concurso es "POR UNA CONVIVENCIA SIN VIOLENCIA" Las fotograffas enviadas deberan estar
relacionadas con: Ia educación para Ia igualdad, Ia convivencia positiva
entre sexos y desde un enfoque
proactivo de Ia imagen.
El Jurado se reserva el derecho a rechazar
las obras que no se ajusten a Ia convocatoria.
3. Obras:
cada participante podra enviar
hasta 3 obras, con
Ia maxima calidad posible,
en
formato JPG sin texto alguno sabre ellas, solo Ia imagen. Cada
fotograffa debera ir
acompañada,en un fichero adjunto,de un título.
El centro dispondra de autorización para Ia utilización de las imagenes
personales.
Las fotograffas deberan ser originales y no haber sido premiadas en otros concursos,
permitiendose el retoque digital,especificandolo en tal caso. La Delegacion Territorial de Educacion, Cultura y
Deporte de Malaga y el Instituto Andaluz de Ia Mujer no se hacen responsables en el caso de envío de fotograffas no originales.
El envío de las fotograffas será mediante correo
electrónico a Ia siguiente dirección:
- Centro educativo
y localidad.
- Nombre
y apellidos de Ia autor/a, forma de contacto, sector al que pertenece
(profesorado,alumnado, familia, PAS), especificando el nivel educativo y curso.
4. Plaza:
El plaza de recepcion de
las fotograffas concluira el domingo 16 de noviembre de
2014. No se admitiran fotografías con posterioridad a esta fecha.
5. Seleccion de obras:
Las obras admitidas pasaran a formar parte de Ia galería fotográfica virtual, y de entre
estas el jurado
elegira doce fotos
para el calendario digital. El material recogido para
el archivo grafico y visual se podra utilizar
para uso educativo.
Se realizara una Exposicion con las fotos recibidas que tambien se podrá contemplar en Ia siguiente pagina:
6. Criterios de valoracion: El jurado valorara:
- Originalidad. Novedad
en Ia imagen y en el mensaje.
- Calidad tecnica. Calidad
final de Ia imagen desde el
punta de vista fotografico y
artístico,añadiendo
el de los posibles retoques.
- Impacto social
y educativo. Capacidad de
generar procesos de sensibilizacion y
grados de compromiso con Ia tematica del concurso.
7. Jurado:
El jurado estara formado por expertos/as de
Ia Delegacion Territorial de Educacion,
Cultura y Deporte de Malaga y
el Instituto Andaluz de Ia Mujer de Malaga.
Su decisión sera inapelable. El fallo del jurado
sera publico y tendra Iugar
el dfa 21 de
noviembre de 2014
Estas bases podran ser modificadas por razones organizativas.
